Radiological and Nuclear Weapons
Nuclear Weapons are devices capable of producing an explosion and massive damage and destruction by the sudden release of energy instantaneously released from self-sustaining nuclear fission and/or fusion. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) prohibits non-nuclear states from acquiring nuclear weapons and obliges nuclear weapon states to work towards a world free of nuclear weapons while guaranteeing the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) prohibits nuclear weapons for its states parties.
